The Town of Antigonish is pleased to announce that the new council has been officially sworn in following the recent municipal election held on October 19, 2024.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the McKenna Centre for Leadership at St. Francis Xavier University marked the beginning of a new term for council. The Town welcomed both returning and newly elected members, and saw Diane Roberts chosen as Deputy Mayor.
Following the ceremony, Mayor Sean Cameron expressed appreciation for the community’s engagement in the democratic process and the trust placed in the elected officials. The Mayor emphasized the importance of the Council’s role in fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable Antigonish for all residents.
The newly sworn-in Council members include:
- Mayor Sean Cameron
- Deputy Mayor Diane Roberts
- Councillor Andrew Murray
- Councillor Leon MacLellan
- Councillor Juanita Pelly
- Councillor Pat McKenna
- Councillor Jack Sullivan
"Today marks an exciting new chapter for our town. This Council is united by a shared vision to continue building a prosperous, resilient Antigonish," said Mayor Cameron. "Together, we will listen, lead, and work closely with our residents to address challenges and pursue opportunities that benefit our community now and into the future."
