Civic Addressing

Each home and business in Nova Scotia is assigned a civic address consisting of a street name, civic number, community and county names. Access Nova Scotia is the provincial department responsible for maintaining the database of all civic addressing information for the province, but the Town has a role in ensuring that this database remains up to date. This province-wide civic address system is used primarily to support emergency response services (like EHS, Police, or Fire Services), but it is also a valuable data source for the public, municipalities, First Nations communities, Emergency Management Office (EMO), Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (TIR), Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations (SNSMR), telephone service providers, and many others.

At the Town of Antigonish, the Civic Address Coordinator is responsible for maintaining, updating, and amending (as needed) the civic address files of the Town of Antigonish in accordance with the Civic Addressing By-law.
