Welcome to the Town of Antigonish!
Located on the eastern shores of mainland Nova Scotia, the Town of Antigonish is a place where hospitality is in abundance and there is always something to keep you entertained, active and exploring.
Our town has a rich arts and cultural community with events such as Antigonight- Art After Dark taking place in early October, and The Antigonish Art Fair hosting five events between July and August. Not to be missed is The Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings beginning early March continuing through to December. Here you will find fresh vegetables, fruit and many baked goods as well as crafts from a diverse group of our local artisans. Love live theatre? You will not be disappointed with our professional summer theatre-Festival Antigonish Summer Theatre has a lineup that includes mysteries, comedies and children’s performances.
Please come visit Main Street, with it’s assortment of restaurants from fine dining to something to grab while you visit. We also have an assortment of shopping-unique clothing stores, antiques and outdoor shops, there is something for everyone. The newly renovated Market Square Mall will have everything you need.
The Town of Antigonish is home of St Francis Xavier University where on any given night you can take in a visiting speaker, visit the art gallery or cheer on the X-Women and X-Men during a varsity game.
The east end of Main Street you will find the old train station which has been refurbished and now houses the Antigonish Heritage Museum. Here you will learn about the history of Antigonish and the families who pioneered the town.
No matter what your interest, I am confident you will not be disappointed with your stay!
