Dear Members of the Antigonish Community,

The Town of Antigonish has been made aware of a photo of Piper’s Pub circulating on social media. The photo showed a large crowd lined up outside of the building and described that it was taken this past week.

The Town feels that it is important to share that this is not a recent photo. We have confirmed that this photo was taken before the COVID-19 restrictions were in place. Since this photo was taken the Town has repainted the crosswalks in a different design pattern and the business owners have removed the hanging flower baskets, as well as made additional cosmetic changes to the outside of the building. The Town would like to acknowledge the intentions of those who shared the photo for showing their concern for our community.  

The Town is committed to continuing our work with StFX and business owners in order to protect the health and safety of our community.

If anyone witnesses any behaviour or gatherings that are against the current restrictions that are in place, please phone our local RCMP detachment at 902-863-6500 or the StFX Student Life Department at 902-867-2276.

It is our collective responsibility to look after our community. We are all in this together.
