Statement from Mayor Laurie Boucher:

“The flags at all Town-owned properties have been lowered to half-mast to honour the lives and memories of the 215 children found in a mass grave at the former Kamloops Residential School in Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Territory. The flags will remain at half-mast for 215 hours to acknowledge and mourn the innocent lives that were taken, as well as all the indigenous children who were taken from their homes, the survivors, and their families.

As a community and as a nation, it is our responsibility to recognize the truths of our past and stand together to honour the spirit of reconciliation every day.”
