African Heritage Month Events

The Town of Antigonish has proclaimed February as African Heritage Month. This year's provincial theme "Legacy in Action: Celebrating Black Brilliance," highlights the achievements, culture, and contributions of those from African Descent in Nova Scotia, demonstrated over many centuries.

We invite all community members to participate in two events to celebrate the heritage, culture and the incredible spirt of African Nova Scotians.

On January 30th, the Town will raise the Pan-African Flag at Chisholm Park with a special ceremony at 10 a.m.

On February 4, the Town, in partnership with StFX University, the Province of Nova Scotia, Support4Culture, and the Municipality of the County of Antigonish will host an event officially launching African Heritage Month. This celebration will be held in the Joyce Family Atrium within the Mulroney Building, at StFX beginning at 11 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
