Antigonish Black Lives Matter Peaceful Protest

The Town of Antigonish has been made aware of the Black Lives Matter Peaceful March in Antigonish on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 7 p.m. While the Town is not the organizer of this event, we respect the right of every citizen to protest peacefully.

The Town would remind those planning to attend the protest of their obligations to their own health and the health of others, especially while we as a community are still navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. Please be respectful of those around you and remember the importance of social distancing. Maintain good hygiene by not sharing signs and posters and to wear a mask and if possible, especially if social distancing cannot be maintained.

The Town of Antigonish values the importance of equality, diversity and justice in all aspects of our society. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive community for all. In the wake of this past week’s events, we recognize that more needs to be done and we all remain committed to being a part of a positive change and supportive of the Black Lives Matter movement.
