Check out the video of our Wind Farm in Ellershouse!

This short film introduces the Ellershouse Wind Farm, a project between the Town of Antigonish, The Town of Berwick, and the Town of Mahone Bay. These towns came together to create the Alternative Resource Energy Authority, or AREA, to manage the wind farm. This collaborative business model is unique in Canada, and allows municipalities to participate in the greening of the electric grid, diversify their income streams, and participate in the fight against climate change. Hantsport-based Minas Energy developed the project with AREA.

Construction of the seven turbine, 16 megawatt project is nearly complete, and will produce enough power for 4500 homes. The project site is located near the Hamlet of Ellershouse. Bullfrog Power is a project partner, The Town of Riverport is another customer, and the Municipality of West Hants hosts the project itself.
