The Town of Antigonish is launching a new Rain Barrel Rebate Pilot Program to help residents reduce outdoor water use and support long‑term water conservation. This initiative was approved as part of the 2026–2027 municipal budget and is designed to make it easier for households to prepare for dry weather periods.
Why a Rain Barrel Program?
In recent years, the Town has implemented both voluntary and mandatory water conservation measures during stretches of dry weather. Through these efforts, it became clear that residents needed more tools to help manage outdoor water use for activities like watering gardens, flowers, and lawns. Rain barrels offer a simple, effective way to collect and reuse rainwater—reducing reliance on the municipal water supply, especially during conservation periods.
Rebate Amount
Residents can receive a $50 rebate for the purchase of a new rain barrel.
A total of $2,500 has been allocated for the 2026–2027 program year.
Rebates will be issued on a first‑come, first‑served basis until all funds are distributed.
Limit: one rebate per household.
