As the provincial restrictions have been lifted on playgrounds and limitations on gatherings have been expanded the Town would like to provide an update on our parks and recreation facilities effective June 19, 2020.
At all facilities, there are to be no more than 50 in the immediate area at one time. It is your responsibility to maintain social distancing and practice proper personal hygiene protocols, which include proper handwashing, bringing your own sanitizer, etc. Remember to be kind, practice patience and to use your own judgement, if the facility appears to be overcrowded please try coming back later.
As of Friday, June 19, 2020, the fencing, tag system, and sanitizing station will be removed from the Skatepark.
The fencing around the playground equipment at Columbus Field and Arbor Drive will be taken down once the Town is able to get the equipment professionally disinfected. Once the fencing is removed the playgrounds will be open for use.
The Town is not responsible for the playground equipment at the Antigonish Education Centre or the Saint Andrews Jr. School.
The Splash Pad at Columbus Field is not open at this time. The washrooms at Columbus Field will also remain closed at this time. A more detailed plan for reopening of the washroom facilities is currently being developed.
The Town thanks all residents for their cooperation over these few months. The Town is excited to be able to open these facilities and welcome you back to these spaces so that you can your family can enjoy being outside together.
