Town of Antigonish Welcomes New Chief Administrative Officer

The Town of Antigonish is pleased to announce the appointment of Randy Delorey as its new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), effective Monday, July 15, 2024. Delorey brings a wealth of experience in strategic planning, governance, public policy, and issues management.

Delorey joins the Town of Antigonish with a unique combination of political, technical, and academic experience as an Assistant Professor. He has an impressive track record with eight years as the MLA for Antigonish, and the Minister to multiple provincial departments including Environment, Finance, Health and Wellness, and Justice. Over his tenure as MLA and Minister he was instrumental in driving strategic initiatives, enhancing public services, improving operational efficiencies, and fostering partnerships.

Mayor Laurie Boucher expressed enthusiasm about the new appointment, stating, "We are thrilled to welcome Randy to our team. His extensive experience and visionary leadership will be invaluable as we continue to build a vibrant and sustainable future for Antigonish. We look forward to working together to achieve our community goals."

As CAO, Delorey will oversee the daily operations of the town, ensuring efficient service delivery, fiscal responsibility, and the implementation of the Town Council's strategic priorities including becoming Canada’s first net-zero community, building a more inclusive and accessible community, tourism, and more long-term capital planning.

"I am honoured to join the Town of Antigonish as the new CAO," said Delorey. "I am excited to work collaboratively with Council, staff, and the community to build on the town's successes and tackle future challenges. Together, we will continue to make Antigonish a great place to live, work, and visit."

Mayor Boucher also took the opportunity to thank the outgoing Interim CAO, Marvin MacDonald, for his exceptional service. "We extend our deepest gratitude to Marvin, who generously came out of retirement to lead our administration during this transitional period. His dedication, expertise, and leadership have been invaluable to our team and our community. We are truly fortunate to have had his guidance and support during these last few months."

Delorey's appointment follows a comprehensive selection process led by the Town. The process attracted numerous highly qualified candidates from across the country, reflecting the desirability and potential of Antigonish as a leading community in Nova Scotia.
