Update at 8:05 p.m. Repairs are complete and water pressure should be returning to normal. We remind residents to use cold water to flush their pipes of any discoloration. Huge thanks to our Public Works crew for working a very long day in these cold temperatures to restore service.
Update at 4:30 p.m. Repairs to the water main break are ongoing and we may have to expand the shut down area to include most of Highland Drive, Fatima Street, Archie Street, MacDonald Street, MacKinnon Street, Braemore Avenue below the bridge, Fairview Street, and further east on St. Ninian Street. Parts of StFX University may also be impacted. Traffic control measures remain in place. When water service is restored, an update will be provided.
The Town of Antigonish is advising residents of a water main break on West Street.
Water service will be reduced beginning at 9:30 a.m. and residents in the immediate and surrounding areas may experience low water pressure and water discoloration:
- West Street from James Street to Highland Drive
- Highland Drive from Fairview Street to West Street
- Cedar Terrace
- St. Ninian Street from Cairn Park to Highland Drive
- James Street from West Street to Subway
For the repairs to be complete, traffic control measures will be in place including a detour for outbound traffic coming from downtown. This traffic will be detoured to Highland Drive and Fairview Street.
Motorists and pedestrians are asked to please use caution in the area.
The Town apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
