Antigonish, NS –On June 16th at the regular meeting of Antigonish Town Council, $157,400 was awarded to 26 local organizations, through the Town’s Community Grant program. Town Council held a Special Meeting on June 11th, to review the applications and allocations that were put forward for approval.

Antigonish, NS – June 20, 2025 - The Town of Antigonish is pleased to announce a significant milestone in its Electric Utility Grid Modernization Project. Local company Ron Chisholm Hydro-Seeding Ltd., based in Lower South River, has been awarded the contract to carry out civil works at the site of the Town’s new electrical substation, located off Post Road.

On June 3rd, 2025, during a special council meeting, Antigonish Town Council approved a balanced 2025-2026 municipal budget, which includes revenue of $16,534,588, delivering $22 million in capital projects. This year’s budget introduces a $0.17 increase in the residential tax rate and a $0.25 increase in the commercial rate.

Applications for the Low-Income Property Tax Exemption are now available for homeowners living in the Town of Antigonish. 

Antigonish Town and County have announced a joint investment of $37,800 through the federal Housing Accelerator Fund to support Antigonish Community Transit Society (ACTS).

The Town of Antigonish will be doing their Spring bulky waste pickup on Monday, May 5th, Tuesday, May 6th, and Wednesday, May 7th.

The Bulky Waste collection is an opportunity for Town residents to dispose of unwanted items that do not fit in a regular garbage bag.

Please note that collection will only happen once in your neighbourhood and is based on your regular garbage pickup day.
